Rich Snippets Masterclass

Understand what rich snippets are, how they improve search visibility, and how to implement FAQ and review schema on your website.

What Are Rich Snippets?

Rich snippets are enhanced search result listings that display additional information beyond the standard title, URL, and meta description. They can include star ratings, FAQ dropdowns, event dates, product prices, or breadcrumb navigation. Rich snippets are generated when Google reads structured data (schema markup) on your page and determines it is eligible for enhanced display. They make your listing more eye-catching and typically improve click-through rates.

FAQ Schema for Small Businesses

FAQ schema is one of the most accessible rich snippet types for small businesses. By marking up a list of questions and answers on your page using FAQ schema, Google may display these directly in search results as expandable sections beneath your listing. This increases the visual size of your result and can push competitor listings further down the page. Common FAQs to mark up include pricing questions, service area details, and booking information.

Review Schema and Star Ratings

Review schema allows you to display aggregate star ratings in search results. For local businesses, this is powerful social proof that drives more clicks. Implement Review or AggregateRating schema on service pages where you feature customer testimonials. Note that Google only displays review rich snippets when the reviews are collected and displayed on your own website — not pulled from third-party platforms.
